Rootless
Starring Omar Leyva
Scene summary:
After loosing his mother, the main character goes on a journey into the desert of his mother's home land with her ashes in a small wooden box. He meets with "El Jefe", a desert legend who is both a wise man and a drunken jokester. This scene around the fire is the only moment in the film where the character speaks. He struggles to say exactly what he feels; resentment, anger, frustration and a pain he doesn't know how to face, at least not at this point of his journey. He is mainly speaking to himself, as El Jefe just drifts into a drunken sleep. The moon and the fire seem to be his only companions as he speaks about the connections between people.
