I have been involved with the creation of films at all stages of the process. In many ways, film is very similar to theatre; both team-oriented and working towards one creative result. In film, character creation is also very important; every little choice is magnified.
On the stage you move through the story and the emotions from scene to scene but in film, the stage is moving, time stops, it is chopped up as you move from shot to shot and the audience is moved around to different angles or distances. It is a wonderful art form! I feel that in film you are trying to create an intimate reality whereas in theater you are helping an audience visualize or experience the reality and more is left to their imagination.
